Nathanael Is Off To Liberty University

Nathanael heads to Liberty!

Nathanael finished his senior year of high school at Ukarumpa on June 13, 2017.  What great experiences he has had over the last four years – studying, making lifelong friends, playing sports, leading worship, working at the Teen Center, and much more!

We also give a huge thank you to the Barkmans who have hosted him for much of that time.

After many difficult goodbyes, our family headed to the States where we have been able to connect with many family members, as well as some friends.

Wednesday, August 20, we dropped him off at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, where he will begin the next chapter of his life.

He is very excited to be there and is starting to learn the ropes of what will be expected of him  (He’s trying to act like an adult!) He is planning to study biomedical science (pre-med).  He has met his roommate and will meet the rest of the guys in his apartment later this week.

Please be praying for him that he would be able to find good friends, figure out a new routine, and enjoy his classes.  He would also like to get a job this fall.  Pray that he will find just the right one.

I grew up in PNG (Ukarumpa) – left in 1982, graduated from L.U. in 1992; my oldest is now a sophomore @ L.U. (cheerleader). I’m sure your son is settled-in by now, but if he’d like to supplement his relationships, my daughter is ALWAYS up for more PNG stories! We go back to Liberty every homecoming … it’s an awesome school. If your son is up for it, my family would like to say “hi” at homecoming in October … so I can get an update on ukarumpa life too.

    • Good to connect with you. There seems to be a good PNG contingent at LU. I’ll pass this on to Nano and if we could connect at homecoming, that would be great! Where did you live in PNG?
